Up-holding and recognition

This lecture is part of a work in progress on the phenomenology of up-holding (portance), a notion at the crossroads of anthropology and ontology, with numerous clinical and ethical stakes. The main forms of up-holding associated with recognition are considered here, through the deep links between recognizing and being born(e), recognizing and carrying, but also recognizing and being recognized. As a fulfillment of the perceptive dimension of intelligence, recognition is open jointly to the existence and style of the perceived being, discerns and attests its uniqueness, thus experiencing one of the three great ontological qualities of up-holding.
